Disposal of electrical appliances

Disposing of electrical appliances, batteries and accumulators in an environmentally friendly way

Electrical appliances, batteries and accumulators (rechargeable batteries) contain resources and harmful substances. Every consumer is therefore legally obliged to dispose of them at an authorised collection point. This ensures that they are recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner.

Electrical appliances, batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste; they can be handed in free of charge at any retailer where comparable products are sold - regardless of where they were purchased and regardless of brand and type. Alternatively, they can be disposed of free of charge at a recycling centre or recycling depot.

Used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance must be separated from it before being handed in.

Disposal of lamps and light sources

These may contain small amounts of mercury. Dispose of them at your local recycling centre or at the mobile hazardous waste collection point. Avoid skin contact with damaged lamps!
